Oman: RNO, plans to buy submarines

“The command of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) is said to be going towards acquiring light and mid-sized submarines that suit the waters of the Gulf and the Arabian Sea. Tactical Report has prepared a 292-word report to shed more light on the subject.”

It seems that the RNO has joined the group of the GCC countries which claims their interest to possess submarines. Maybe it is even the first time for the RNO to announce their interest. The problem is to define what a "light" submarine means in the Tactical Report. Maybe a midget submarine can be called “light submarine” but professionals very seldom use such a name.  But it is not the first time when the Tactical Report uses this name.
